JBS Strike: According to the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7, the
union representing about 3,800 workers at the JBS plant in Greeley, CO,
started to strike this morning. The JBS workers want an offer that will take
life saving safety equipment seriously, provide wages that meet the rising
cost of living, and ensures health care costs do not consume their wages. The
JBS plant started canceling cattle shipments and winding up slaughter last
week, and shifting cattle deliveries to some of their other processing
facilities.
DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP: Business started on Tuesday last week, with a little
more light trade taking place on Wednesday and Thursday with just a
smattering on Friday. Northern dressed sales were done at mostly $372, $8
lower. Southern live deals had a range of $235 to $236, mostly $235, compared
to the prior week, that is $4 lower in Texas, and $5 lower in Kansas.
According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Negotiated Purchase

KS $235.00($239.64); NE $372.04($379.85); TX $235.35($239.02); IA $372.04
($379.69); CO was not available due to confidentiality. (the prior week's

Poultry Slaughter Report, Friday's slaughter totaled 86,000 head, 2,000 less

estimated at 17,000 head, bringing the weekly total to 525,000 head, 4,000
more than the previous week, but down 61,000 from 2025. The weekly average
for boxed beef cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice $395.54(+9.12), select
$388.40(+9.06), with an average choice/select spread of $7.13(+.06), and a
total load count including cuts, trimmings, and grinds of 395(-22), (Changes
from the prior week are listed in parentheses).
For the week ending March 07, 2026, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the
U.S. totaled 56,245, 110.21% of the previous week and 106.37% of the 4-week
average.
DTN MORNING COMMENTS: It will likely be another rather quiet Monday morning,
with both packers and producers busy taking inventory and preparing for the
week ahead. Bids and asking prices have yet to be established, and
significant trade volume will probably be delayed until much later in the
week. Beef cutouts are expected to be higher with light box movement.
