Wheat...It was another week of a mostly sideways trek for west coast
wheat prices, as markets lack fresh numbers from USDA. Soft white wheat
bids did reflect a stronger basis relative to Chicago futures, as nearby
basis firmed by a dime. Exporter bid structures are also now showing
carries posted in all three wheat markets.
Average Prices...West coast white wheat prices have averaged $6.09 for
the June through September portion of this marketing year, which is up 15
cents from the same period a year ago. Hard red winter 11.5% protein wheat
has averaged $5.85 from June through September, which is down 42 cents from
a year ago. Dark northern spring 14% protein wheat markets have averaged
$6.65 this year, which is down 18 cents per bushel from the same four-month
period a year ago.
