DTN COMMENTS: Packer inquiry should start to improve at some point today.
Asking prices are around $138 to $140 in the South, but still not fully
established in the North. Having said all of that, it is possible that
significant trade volume could be delayed until Thursday. Beef cutouts are
expected to be lower with light to moderate box movement.
The Fed Cattle Exchange Auction held today reported 7 lots, totaling 1,035 head
of cattle, none of which sold. Opening Prices were at $134, reserve prices
ranged from $136 to $138, with high bids ranging from $134 to $136.25.
NOTE: Feedlots are encouraged to call DTN with any cattle sales, at
1-800-369-7675, ext. 3678. All sales will be listed anonymously and
organized by state. All live sales are FOB and set for 1-9-day delivery. A
weekly summary from this data will be posted on the Weekly Cattle Sales
Reported to DTN page.
